Enhanced skin retention and permeation of a novel peptide via structural modification, chemical enhancement, and microneedles.

Chen. Jungen J; Bian. Junxing J; Hantash. Basil M BM; Albakr. Lamyaa L; Hibbs. David E DE; Xiang. Xi...

Researchers improved a skin‑lightening peptide (decapeptide‑12) by attaching a fatty (palmitate) chain, which makes it more oil‑friendly and helps it stay in the skin longer. Adding common skin‑penetration boosters like oleic acid or menthol helped the modified peptide get deeper, while tiny microneedle patches helped the original peptide but not the boosters. The combined tweaks could let DIY users achieve therapeutic levels of the peptide in skin without needing prescription drugs.

Efficacy of Trifecting® Night Cream, a Novel Triple acting Skin Brightening Product: A Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Clinical Study.

Jiang. Lily L; Hino. Peter D PD; Bhatia. Ashish A; Stephens. Thomas J TJ; Jimenez. Felipe F

A 28‑week double‑blind study tested a night cream (Trifecting® Night Cream 1.0) that contains decapeptide‑12 on women with moderate‑to‑severe melasma, sun spots, and eye‑area wrinkles. The cream was applied nightly for 24 weeks, then stopped for four weeks. Participants using the cream showed better improvement in skin dark spots, melasma, and fine lines than those who only used cleanser and sunscreen, and the benefits lasted at least a month after stopping.

Open-label evaluation of the skin-brightening efficacy of a skin-brightening system using decapeptide-12.

Kassim. Andrea T AT; Hussain. Mussarrat M; Goldberg. David J DJ

A small open‑label study found that a skin‑brightening system containing decapeptide‑12, used together with a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen, noticeably reduced facial hyperpigmentation over 24 weeks. About two‑thirds of participants saw their skin tone improve from moderate or severe damage to mild or clear, and the treatment was well tolerated with few side effects.
